Each month, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources will be providing a free image for use on your smartphones, tablets, computers, and your social media platforms, highlighting the many different natural resources the Land of Lincoln has to offer.
For the month of January, we're offering a Cedar Waxwing photographed at Weldon Springs State Park.
It's hard to predict what you may come across while trekking outdoors in these winter months. With many trees no longer bearing leaves, and an abundance of tranquil silence, our feathered friends become much easier to spot and photograph in a natural setting.
So head to the great outdoors and bring some binoculars, a pair of hiking boots, and an extra layer or two!
Check back monthly because we'll be featuring a new natural resource, activity, wildlife, and much more!
