Special Bicentennial Play Anybody’s Story Premieres July 6-8
SPRINGFIELD, IL – A special play marking the Illinois Bicentennial, Anybody’s Story: 200 Years of Illinoisans and Their Stuff, will premiere on Friday and Saturday, July 6-7 at the Historic Edwards Place, 700 North 4th Street at 7:30 p.m. and again at the Illinois State Museum in the Thorne Deuel Auditorium, 502 S. Spring Street at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 8.  The play, written and directed by Mark Beanblossom, is produced by the Springfield Art Association and the Illinois State Museum.

Anybody's Story is a series of vignettes inspired by the objects in the "Bicentennial & Beyond: The Illinois Legacy Collection" exhibition at the Illinois State Museum. When a lost tourist stumbles into the back room of an Illinois history museum, she discovers that there's a story behind even the smallest of artifacts. By watching the play, the audience will literally watch the story of the objects come to life.

After the show, the audience will have the chance to ask questions of the show's writer/director and the Illinois State Museum's curator of decorative arts and history.

Ticket prices for all shows:  $20 for the public, $15 for Springfield Art Association and Illinois State Museum Society members. Tickets may be purchased online at http://bit.ly/AnybodysStory or at the door, as well as at the Grand Opening of the ISM’s Bicentennial and Beyond exhibition on June 29, 5:30-7:30 p.m. The ticket price for the July 8 performance includes admission to the ISM.

The Illinois State Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 12 noon until 4:30 p.m.  Museum admission:  $5 for adults ages 19-64; free admission for children, seniors, and veterans.

Edwards Place is open to guided tours Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. and Saturday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m.  For more information, please contact the Springfield Art Association at 217-523-2631 or www.edwardsplace.org.
