Recycled Play Day Super Saturday Family Event on April 7 at the Illinois State Museum
SPRINGFIELD, IL – The green fun returns to the Illinois State Museum during the 5th annual Recycled Play Day Super Saturday and Family Event on Sat., April 7 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Each year, this event kicks off Earth Month at the Museum with engaging activities and games centered on reducing, reusing, and recycling, and other “green” topics. This year, children will enjoy environmental games, recycled art projects, and the chance to win a door prize.

The main activity for the event will be a large ‘play city’ built out of repurposed cardboard. Families will work together to construct this play structure, which will be left up for Museum visitors to play in during the month of April.

Participants will also enjoy activities provided by partner organizations, including a tree game provided by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, a display of household objects repurposed to provide wildlife habitat presented by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, and an upcycled craft presented by the City of Springfield’s Office of Public Works.

The event is sponsored by Bank of Springfield. All activities are recommended for children ages 5 and up with an adult. For additional information, please contact events@illinoisstatemuseum.org or phone 217-558-6696.

The Illinois State Museum is located in the State Capitol Complex at 502 S. Spring St., Springfield.
