Illinois State Museum to Host Museum Memories Family Event
SPRINGFIELD, IL – The Illinois State Museum invites families to celebrate its rich 139-year history at the Museum Memories Family Event this Saturday, July 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Museum will be bringing back a selection of popular past exhibitions, including a horse skeleton, the “Tornado Trees” recovered near Murphysboro after the great Tri-State tornado on March 18, 1925, and many children’s activities from the Museum’s A Place for Discovery room, which was replaced by the Play Museum in 2011.

Visitors will enjoy photos from the Museum’s past through audio-visual displays, and can include their Museum memories in a communal art project. Visitors can also share their memories of the Illinois State Museum at the Video Memory Booth starting at 1 p.m. Recorded memories may be used on social media or on the Museum’s website.

This event is free with Museum admission, which is $5 for adults. Illinois State Museum Society members, children 18 and under, seniors 65 and older, military personnel, and veterans are free.

The Illinois State Museum is located in at 502 S. Spring St, Springfield, IL 62706. For more information, contact Elizabeth Bazan, events@museum.state.il.us, 217-782-5993.
