IDNR Announces New Fly Fishing Clinics at Conservation World at Illinois State Fair
Free fly fishing instruction three times daily Aug. 14-23
SPRINGFIELD, IL – The Illinois Department of Natural Resources Division of Fisheries will host free Fly Fishing Clinics at the Conservation World pond on the Illinois State Fairgrounds during the 2015 Illinois State Fair, Aug. 14-23.  There will be three clinic sessions each day.  The clinics are free of charge and will be presented by Fly Fishing Federation certified instructors.

Illinois State Fair admission includes free admission to Conservation World.

For more information or to sign up for the new Fly Fishing Clinics at this year’s Illinois State Fair, stop by the Fly Fishing Tent, located near the west pond adjacent to the IDNR Building at Conservation World. The Fly Fishing Clinic schedule is outlined below.


Fly Fishing Clinic Schedule
2015 Illinois State Fair – Conservation World

Three classes will be held daily:
• 10:00 AM to 11:15AM
• 1:00 PM to 2:15 PM
• 4:00 PM to 5:15 PM

There will be different classes offered for ages 14 to 100.  A fishing license is not required to participate in clinic.  Each class will last 1 hour and 15 min. and will be limited to 15 participants.  All classes will allow participants to gain hands-on experience fly casting under the instruction and supervision of a Fly Fishing Federation Certified Instructor.  Classes to be offered:

• Introduction to Fly Fishing - open to ages 14 and over
• Expanding Fly Fishing Skills and Species – open to ages 14 and over with some experience; geared toward intermediate level fly fishers who will learn about fly fishing for Illinois’ sportfish like bass, bluegill, carp in rivers, streams and ponds.
• For Women - Introduction to Fly Fishing– open to women ages 14 and over
• For Seniors – Fly Fishing Techniques and Tackle for the Aging Angler – first time or experience older participants;
