Hunting and Trapping Permit
- Hunters and trappers must possess a valid Bobcat Hunting and Trapping Permit BEFORE taking or attempting to take a bobcat. Bobcat Hunting and Trapping Permits cannot be transferred to another person.
Methods of Take
- People who possess a valid Bobcat Hunting and Trapping Permit may take one bobcat by hunting or trapping. People who possess a valid Bobcat Hunting and Trapping Permit may also salvage a bobcat found dead along a roadway during open seasons; such animals become part of the person's bag limit and are subject to permit and tagging requirements.
Hunters and trappers must purchase a Bobcat Registration Permit within 48 hours after taking a bobcat. The cost of a permit is $5.00 plus a vendor's fee. Bobcat Registration Permits are available only at www.dnr.illinois.gov
. Bobcat Registration Permits must be purchased by the same individual who took a bobcat and cannot be transferred to another person. Note: Purchase this permit AFTER (not before) you harvest a bobcat. Click here to purchase.
An official CITES tag must be permanently affixed to the green hide of each bobcat (including a whole, un-skinned carcass) before it is exported outside the United States or transferred to a fur buyer, taxidermist, fur tanner, or garment manufacturer. Unsealed CITES tags are not transferrable. It is unlawful to possess more unsealed
