Rice Lake

2019-2020 Season


LOCATION: Two miles east of Banner on Banner Dike Road

 Rice Lake consists of 110 acre flooded impoundment with bottom land timber, slough and ponds.


Duck Statewide 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1:00 p.m. 20 hunters per day
Youth Waterfowl  Statewide 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1:00 p.m. Season open on weekend preceding central waterfowl season
Geese Statewide 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1:00 p.m.. Allowed only during central zone duck season
Deer Archery Only  Statewide  Statewide-except during the Central Zone Duck Season-Hours: 1:00PM until 1/2 hour after sunset.  Zone A & B only
Woodcock, Snipe and Rail  During teal season only  Sunrise until 1:00 P.M.  Allowed only during the statewide teal season.


1.  All hunters must register at the walk-in check station prior to 5 a.m. daily, prevailing time.

2.  A drawing will be held at 5 a.m. to dertermine the 20 hunters for that day.

3. Hunters may bring up to 2 partners (hunters or non-hunters) to occupy a blindsite or area.

4.  Hunting will take place on alternating days with the Copperas Creek walk in areas & Big Lake.

5.  No fees are charged for hunting at Rice Lake.

6.  Only non-toxic shot can be used. No other shotgun shells loaded with lead shot may be in possession.

7.  All hunting parties must hunt within 10 feet of stake.

8.  You must hunt over at least 1 dozen decoys.

9.  Archery Deer Hunting - All hunters are required to sign-in and sign-out at the hunter check station located at the site office (Zone A) or there is a sign-in box at the trail head on the east side (Zone B).  Hunting is only allowed after 1:00 PM until 1/2 hour after sunset.  Tree stands may be left unattended from September 15th through January 31st.  All tree stands or ground blinds left unattended must be legibly marked with the owner's name, address and telephone number.  It is unlawful to construct or use any tree stand using nails, screws or any device which pierces or cuts the bark of the tree on which it is installed.

10..  Woodcock, Shipe and Rail Hunting - season open during teal season only; sunrise until 1:00 PM.
