Stream Discovery Workshop Grade 5-12 Educators

Stream Discovery Workshop for grade 5-12 educators which provides the opportunity to assess water quality in their community by monitoring macroinvertebrates in a local stream. Water quality data is then uploaded to the National Geographic's Field Scope mapping and data platform for comparison with student data in other Illinois watersheds. The use of the stream as an outdooor classroom allows for in-depth learning opportunities and helps create a new generation of water stewards.
Attendees will receive an introduction to the Stream Discovery Program, learn about macroinvertebrate biology, ecology and identification and travel to a local stream for a field demonstration.
Registration deadline is September 2.
Rgistration fee is $60.00.
Teacher receive five progessional development hours.
