2020 Special Events and Programs at Starved Rock State Park

*January 11th - Starved Rock Winter Wilderness Hike:  9:30 a.m. only, 3 options -Must Pre-Register at Eventbrite.com
January 25th-26th- Eagle Watch Weekend:  please visit www.illinoisaudubon.org for activity timeframes, locations, and further details.
February 9th:  1:30 p.m. Northern Illinois Raptor Rehab and Education, live birds of prey:  Limited seating, first come, first seated.  Doors will close when auditorium is full. 
February 16th: 1:30 p.m. French Explorer LaSalle in the Illinois Country, by Park Historian, Mark Walczynski.
March 8th:  1:30 p.m. Tap a Tree for Maple Sap, by Natural Resource Coordinator, Lisa Sons.
*March 20th:  Starved Rock March Sunset Equinox Hike:  Must Pre-Register at Eventbrite.com. 
March 29th:  1:30 p.m. Mushrooms of Illinois, by Moira O'Keefe.
April 19th:  1:30 p.m. Dave's Traveling Reptile Show, live reptiles and animals:  Limited seating, first come, first seated.  Doors will close when auditorium is full. 
*April 25th:  Starved Rock  Wildflower Pilgrimage Hike:  9:30 a.m. only, 3 options - Must Pre-Register at Eventbrite.com
May 16-17: 1-3 p.m. both days.   Live Hawk Show by Eagles Roost Cabin behind Visitor Center, by Falconer Rich Escutia.
May 25th:  9:30 a.m. Memorial Day Guided Hike to Starved Rock.
June 13-14:  1-3 p.m. both days.   Live Hawk Show by Eagles Roost Cabin behind Visitor Center, by Falconer Rich Escutia.
June 20th:  Seasonal Guided Hikes begin on this Saturday through the 2nd Saturday of November on Saturdays only at 9:30 a.m. to Starved Rock and Wildcat Canyon-2 mile roundtrip loop.
*June 21st:  Starved Rock June Sunset Solstice Hike:  Must Pre-Register at Eventbrite.com
June 27-28:  1-3 p.m. both days.   Live Hawk Show by Eagles Roost Cabin behind Visitor Center, by Falconer Rich Escutia.
July 4th:  July Fourth Holiday Hike at 9:30 a.m. to Starved Rock
July 18-19:  1-3 p.m. both days.   Live Hawk Show by Eagles Roost Cabin behind Visitor Center, by Falconer Rich Escutia.
July 25-26:  1-3 p.m. both days.   Live Hawk Show by Eagles Roost Cabin behind Visitor Center, by Falconer Rich Escutia.
August 29-30:  1-3 p.m. both days.   Live Hawk Show by Eagles Roost Cabin behind Visitor Center, by Falconer Rich Escutia.
September 7th:  Labor Day Holiday Hike at 9:30 a.m. to Starved Rock
September 12-13:  1-3 p.m. both days.   Live Hawk Show by Eagles Roost Cabin behind Visitor Center, by Falconer Rich Escutia.
September 20th:  1:30 p.m. Interesting Insects, live animals, by Entymologist Kenneth Johnson from University of Illinois:  Limited seating, first come, first seated.  Doors will close when auditorium is full.

September 27th:  1:30 p.m. Reptiles and Amphibians of Illinois, live animals, by Kristopher Maxson from the Illinois Natural History Survey.  Limited seating, first come, first seated.  Doors will close when auditorium is full.

October 17th-18th:   1-3 p.m. both days.   Live Hawk Show by Eagles Roost Cabin behind Visitor Center, by Falconer Rich Escutia.
October 24th:  1-2 p.m. and 2:30-3:30 p.m. Incredible Bats, live animals, by Sharon and Dan Peterson:    Limited seating, first come, first seated.  Doors will close when auditorium is full.

November 1st:  1:30 p.m. Wolves, Lynx, and Porcupines Oh My! Live animals, by Big Run Wolf Ranch.  Limited seating, first come, first seated.  Doors will close when auditorium is full. 
November 14th:  Seasonal Guided Hikes end on this Saturday.  9:30 a.m. to Starved Rock and Wildcat Canyon-2 mile roundtrip loop. Hikes will resume on the third Saturday of June 2021.
December 6th:  1:30 p.m. Native American Tool Making, by Alan Harrison. 
December 1st-6th:  Entry forms and photographic entries due to the Starved Rock Visitor Center. Starved Rock Photography Show & Contest
December 11th-27th:  Starved Rock Photography Show and Contest on display in the Visitor Center Audio Visual/Kaskaskia Room.
December 13th:  1:30 p.m. Coyotes and the Urban Landscape, by Peggy Doty
