INTRODUCTION:   The Department of Natural Resources is responsible for providing recreational opportunity
for the residents of the state.  Of particular concern is providing safe hunting experiences on public land throughout the state.  This Hunter Fact Sheet contains information relating to archery deer hunting at this site.  Buffalo Rock S.P. is located off County Highway 34 west of Ottawa and is approximately 200 acres in size.  The interior of the site is mostly grasslands with the larger timbered areas found on the north and west sides of the park.  This area contains several bluffs and deep ravines and is open to the public, so caution should be used at all times.  The site is bounded by Co. Hwy 34, the Illinois River and a private marina to the west.  Pecumsagan Creek N.P. is located off U.S. Route 6 east of LaSalle and is about 210 acres in size.  The access road to the parking area may be impassible during poor weather and will not be plowed.  This is a restricted use nature preserve, no cutting of any plant material is allowed!  This area is mostly forested with deep ravines and caves.  This site has private property to the north, east and west, and railroad tracks to the south.  DO NOT ENTER ANY MINES FOR ANY REASON!  Extreme caution should be used at all times.  Access is ONLY via the hunter parking lots.  

All regulations found in the Illinois Wildlife Code of 1971, Administrative Orders, and Federal Regulations apply, unless area regulations are more restrictive.  Be aware of all site boundaries.

1.  Stands -  No permanent stands; or stands that cut, or pierce the bark of trees.  Stands must be removed daily.   
2.  There is currently no antler or harvest restriction at this site, you may harvest what you have permits for.
3.  The sites will be open to scouting two weeks prior to the beginning of the season.  8am-Sunset
