The Endangered Species Act allows IDNR to authorize “taking” of endangered and threatened species, if that taking is incidental to, and not the purpose of, an otherwise lawful activity. Proposed projects that are expected to result in the “take” of listed species as determined by EcoCat or otherwise may apply for Incidental Take Authorization. Applicants for Incidental Take Authorization must submit conservation plans for review by IDNR, ESPB, and the public.
